Join us for this spiritual boot camp to learn how to: Lead in the fog of war, be a bold 21st century follower, and to prepare to spiritually engage the enemy at such a time as this. Ephesians 6:11-12.

Captain (Sel) Maurice A. Buford is a 1993 graduate of Tuskegee University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sociology. In 1997 he received his Master of Divinity from the Interdenominational Theological Center. In 2006 he went back to the Interdenominational Theological Center and earned a Doctorate of Ministry with a focus in pastoral care and counseling. In 2008 he received a Certificate of Advance Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Human Resource Development from Regent University. In 2012, he received his Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership again from Regent University.

Captain (Sel) Buford was ordained as an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church at the age of 21. He served as the senior pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church in East Palatka, FL and Mt. Moriah AME Church in Jacksonville, FL until the Lord opened the door to serve as a Naval Chaplain on active duty.

His past military assignments include serving as the Command Chaplain Naval Hospital Station Roosevelt Roads Puerto Rico from Dec 1999 –May 2002; Command Chaplain 1st Marines 1st Division, Camp Pendleton, CA June 2002 –May 2005; Staff Chaplain Naval Station Rota, Spain from July 2005 – March 2007; Carrier Air Wing Three Command Chaplain, Virginia Beach, VA April 2007 – May 2009; Marine Corps University, Quantico VA, May 2009 – OCT 2010; The Basic School, Quantico, VA, OCT 2010 – NOV 2011; NOV 2011 – JUNE 2014 The Chaplain Corps Officer Community Manager in Millington, TN. JUN 2014 – MAR 2016 The Command Chaplain on the USS Abraham Lincoln. MAR 2016 – now Command Chaplain The Marine Corps University, Quantico VA.

Captain (Sel) Buford’s additional training and awards include 2 units of Clinical Educational Units, Suicide Awareness Training, Sexual Harassment Training and he is a Certified as an EEO counselor. CAPT (Sel) Buford has 2 Meritorious Service Medals, 5 Commendation Medals and a Navy and Marine Corp Medal.

He is the proud dad of Thalia and is happily married to the former Melissa D. Martin, Esq. and together they endeavor “… to provoke God’s people into their divine purpose.”
