Erika Cole, known as The Church Attorney®, has over 25 years of experience and is a relied-upon adviser to denominations and churches of all sizes in their legal needs, including tax-exempt status, property matters, governance and mergers. Raised in the church, she strives to provide church leaders with legal and tax insights to avoid government scrutiny and loss of resources.
Erika created The Church Attorney Legal Audit® System to prevent churches from being tripped up by legal challenges. It guides churches to make internal assessments and needed adjustments to maximize opportunities, minimize risk and grow in service.
Erika hosts the Church Law podcast that discusses the everyday operation of a church. She also launched The Church Compliance Conference in 2008, a forum to help church leaders better understand to adapt to frequently changing legal environments.
Erika loves traveling, long walks and getting lost in a good book. She and her husband, Brien, live outside of Washington, D.C. with their active school-aged sons.
